A fine art of discipline,
A mechanical change with
A bend here,
A fold there,
A twisting of forms.
The air is still and tense
Like fresh snow, or paper—
Simple when caught in a moment,
Simply pure
Simply white
Simply dangerous,
Simply waiting to be ruined.
Their words still echo in her mind,
Stinging like papercuts—
They are fingers;
She is origami;
Origami folds,
Origami bends,
Origami pretends
Not to notice her creases."
